CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (1971)

You know why this is a Halloween season movie? Candy. So much candy there's a chocolate river. 5 Kids accompanied by parents get to trick or treat in a candy factory and some of them suffer tricks. They are rotten though and deserve everything they get. The candy factory owner is a little unhinged, or maybe a great actor, or both? And at the end of the day, the kid who wins is the one who doesn't take more than he's supposed to. Sure, maybe I'm reaching, but that tunnel scene in the boat is creepy enough to be it's own scary ride. Things don't have to be scary and have candy to qualify for Halloween, but this movie has both. So there. A quick argument on why you should add the original CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY MOVIE to your spooky season watch list.

Unrelated to spooky season, but still important notes about this movie. These two quotes:

"Oh, you can't get out backwards. You've gotta go forwards to go back. Better press on."

And.

"Don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he wanted... He lived happily ever after."

Wise words from Willy Wonka. Keep moving forward, and it's okay to be happy. You don't have to feel ashamed about feeling good.

Have a great last week before Halloween, my friends!
